Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

A day to be grateful, a day to be giving, and a day to be merry. Thanksgiving is a wonderful day to spend with family if you're fortunate to be close to them. It's also a great day to invite a stranger to enjoy a warm meal. It's a day to make new friends and to reunite with old ones.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the year and this year I am grateful for many things.

First of all, I am thankful for my father. He was diagnosed with cancer this past August, which is why I've been absent a good bit on this blog. I'm grateful to have him with me this Thanksgiving. After a long surgery and months of recovery, with a lot of huge bumps along the way, he is cancer free. I'm grateful for every doctor and nurse that helped with his recovery.

This Thanksgiving I'll be sending prayers for those who are suffering, for those who haven't been as fortunate. Cancer is a terrible thing and until now I hadn't fully realized the toll it took on the person affected and their family. For that I am grateful to have learned from this experience. My heart goes out to those who suffer alone. My father was blessed to be surrounded by a strong family.

Secondly, I am grateful for my own small family. My husband who has stood by me through thick and thin, and who has loved me nonstop, even on my crazy days. He's my biggest supporter when it comes to my writing career and for that I can never repay him. No matter what he keeps me going, even when I want to stop. He's my light on my darkest days.

My daughters have also been my biggest fans. My oldest can't wait to grow up to be a writer, 'just like mommy'. I couldn't be prouder of them and I'm thankful for the opportunity to be able to be a stay-at-home-mom so I can see them grow into the amazing little ladies that they are today.

Now, I could go on and on with my list of things that I'm thankful for, but I'll end with one last thing that I'm beyond grateful for.

I'm grateful for you, my readers, my fans. Without you I wouldn't be where I am today, following my lifelong dream to become an author. You keep me going and I will never be able to thank you enough.

I hope each and everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. Whether it's with family around a table or holding a loved ones hand in a small room I hope no one feels alone. Reach out and embrace someone today, they might need it.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Monthly Update - November

Monthly Update

Wow, I didn't realize how far behind I've gotten. (My last update was for August.) There's been so much going on these last few months. Even though I haven't had much free time I've been working hard and I'm happy to say that I've finished a few projects that I have been working on.

One of my projects has been an ongoing one that I just couldn't get right. I've rewrote the story three times and I'm finally relieved to say that this rewrite was the charm. The story is exactly how I want it now. Plans for the release will be early next year.

And that brings me to my next little announcement. Since November is coming to an end and the holidays are going to be in full swing I won't be releasing anything until the new year. I'm hoping to have several releases set up and ready to go though. I'll post the list of expected releases for next year hopefully by the end of December.

For the time being I'm going to be working hard to get more books written. I have a few series that need to be wrapped up so I'll be working on those first.

Other than that I don't have much to report on. I'm making progress and that's what matters most.

A crash that she can’t seem to get past, considering it was entirely her fault. A fact her mother hasn't allowed her to forget for even a moment. Her fraternal twin brother, Duncan, talks her into getting back to the life she had all but forgotten and back to her friends that she had left behind while in her bubble of depression. Her only worries are whether or not her forgotten friends will forgive her for pushing them away, and if her once boyfriend, Lucca, would forgive her and want to pick back up where they had left off. Everything seems to be fitting right back into place as Alexis rebuilds her life, but as soon as it looks its best it all comes crashing down around her. A deadly virus takes the world by storm. The dead rise. Her friends and family go missing. And she’s left alone. Alexis must quickly choose her path in this new apocalyptic world, and thankfully she finds someone who will keep her from falling back into despair. Friends and loved ones die, and at moments all seems lost. What will she end up doing in order to survive this cruel world that she has been suddenly thrown into? Will she give up or will she fight? Folktales - What's your favorite story?

Folktales - What's your favorite story?

We all grow up hearing stories. Our parents pass on folktales that their parents passed on to them. The cycle goes on and on, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Many of those stories make us who we are today. They teach us to overcome obstacles. They teach us love, they even teach us about some of the evils that we might face as we grow older. All-in-all they teach as much as they entertain.

Here's a few of my favorites.

Little Red Riding Hood:

We all know this story. Little Red Riding Hood goes to grandmother's house with a basket of goodies. When she arrives she finds the Big Bad Wolf in her grandmother's place. "What big eyes you have." "What big ears you have." "What big teeth you have." They are all phrases we know by heart. This is one of my favorite stories and I would love to one day make my own version of this folktale.

Rumpelstiltskin:

This is a story that comes in various different versions. I've heard a few different ones but they all basically come down to someone making a deal with Rumpelstiltskin. One of the reasons that this makes my favorite list is thanks to the TV show Once Upon a Time. I love the character portrayed there which in turn makes me love the background story so much more.

Hansel and Gretel:

Ah, this one. This is the one our parents told us to keep us from eating junk food. We know it, they know it. It scared us into not going into the woods, and we certainly learned never to look at a gingerbread house the same way. I'll admit it every season when the gingerbread houses make their appearances this is the story I think about. This is why it's one of my favorites. While I haven't like the spin-off movies they've done of it that doesn't stop me from enjoying it and passing it onto my kids.

Jack and the Beanstalk:

The story of overcoming obstacles no matter how big they are. This one was one of my favorites as a child. It reminded me that little people could do big things too. As the story goes Jack trades a cow for some magic beans. Even when things seem dire those beans grow into a beanstalk rising into the sky. Jack then climbs up the beanstalk to take on the Giant. Jack must have been one brave little boy because I don't think I could stand up to a Giant, even as a grown up.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears:

My girls love this one. Of course the way I tell it adds to its affect. Naughty little Goldilocks. In my version the bears kick her butt which my kids seem to love. My girls are funny that way, they love action packed stories. Someday I might have to write a version of this story for my girls. While I love the old version I enjoy telling my humorous version to my children. More than likely my version will be passed down to their children which excites me. The story will go on :)

The Pied Piper:

This one kind of makes my skin crawl. Don't get me wrong I love little critters but to have a bunch of rats following me would give me nightmares. The story does intrigue me because it has real history. I love stories that have truth behind them. It may make my skin crawl but that's why it makes my favorite list. Inciting any reaction makes a good story.

So, those are a few of my favorites. There are so many more I could list but not enough time in the day. What are some of your favorites? Feel free to share them and what makes them special to you.

Monthly Update - August

Monthly Update

I've been working really hard the last few weeks and I'm happy to say that that hard work has payed off. I've been crossing things off of my to-do list pretty quickly.

So far, I've gotten the paperback versions that needed to be done completed. Hopefully, I'll be able to approve the proofs as soon as I get them this coming month. Chosen has it's cover ready along with the book three, Betrayed, in The Onyx Wolves series. I updated the rest of the paperback covers in The Onyx Wolves series  as well. They look amazing! I've even got my newest release paperback cover ready to go.

On top of getting those finished I edited one of the stories I had finished months ago. Crash is available now for purchase at Amazon. I skipped the pre-order period for it.

I still have one more story waiting to be edited and released but I'm going to wait a little longer to release it. My goal is to release it by October.

The story that I've been currently working on is nearly finished as well. Right now I'm three-fourths of the way through. I should be finished with it by the middle of September at the latest. I hope to have it released in the next few months too.

With both of my girls now in school I'm hoping to have more free time. I'm still trying to work out my schedule. Sleep has been rough to come by the last few days so that's going to be my biggest hurdle. I'm sure in the next few weeks I'll have it all worked out.

Even though this past two months have been hectic I've managed to push through it all. I'm really hoping for another productive month ahead in September.

New Release - Crash

Crash by [Asher, Raven K.]
Out Now!!

I just released this little gem yesterday. I went ahead and skipped the pre-order period and hit publish now instead. Go check it out! The Kindle version is available for purchase or you can read for free with Kindle Unlimited. It will also be available in paperback in September.

Amazon Link: Crash

Addilyn had been on top. She had great friends and an even greater boyfriend. All of that changed with one small decision, one mistake on someone else’s part. A drunk driver took everything she loved away. Everything changed from that moment on. She was no longer the girl that she once knew. Addilyn couldn’t even recognize that girl in her mirror. After the accident the ghosts of her friends haunt her causing her to have terrible nightmares which disrupt her family. When Addilyn’s father gives her mother an ultimatum her mother makes a difficult decision. They leave him behind for a better life. Unfortunately a better life isn’t easily found. They move to town after town until they find one that her mother has high hopes for. There Addilyn meets a handsome boy, Nash, who sees past her scars. The only bad news is that he’s already in a relationship. Of course there’s another person in this town that Addilyn hoped to never see again, Weston, the only other survivor of the crash. Surprisingly he ends up being the support she needs to get through the days ahead. Nash is a huge help too but the more time they spend together the closer they get. Even when Nash ends his relationship for her Addilyn pushes him away. It’s out of fear, she doesn’t want to lose someone she loves again, but she can’t deny the fact that there’s something huge between them. Along the road ahead Addilyn has some difficult decisions to make, hearts to break, and long days of recovery ahead. Will she be strong enough to let go or will her ghosts haunt her forever? Will she allow Nash in, will she let herself love again? Only fate can decide.

Monthly Update - July

Monthly Update

I know I'm really late getting this out but here it is. Here's my update for the month of July.

July didn't go quite as planned. A lot of unforeseen health issues came up with family and instead of getting work done I spent time with them. Those issues are thankfully getting better at a slow pace, but never the less they are improving.

The beginning of July did go as planned with my Goodreads Giveaway. That ended up way better than I had expected. It was a pleasant surprise. And instead of doing covers for paperbacks like I had planed to I only ended up refining the covers for The Story of Alexis Rose series. Other than that I didn't get much else done that I had originally planned for.

I did however get some writing done. Not much but I did manage to get a third of the way through writing a story. Of course it's a story that I had previously written but the story hadn't gone as planned so I trashed it in order to rewrite it before even thinking about publishing it. I believe what I've got now is publish worthy though. It will be a while before I finish and get that out.

Meanwhile I have two stories just waiting on the back burner to be edited and published. I have so much to do and so little time to manage right now. I will hopefully get it all done in time. It just might go slower than I'd like.

Even though it's nearly halfway through August I'm going to try and cross a few things off of my to-do list. The good news is that school for my little ones will be starting and having both in classes for the day will free up some writing time for me.

I'm going to keep at it and hopefully I'll make progress forward. No matter what comes my way I'll get through it.

August's monthly update will hopefully be on time unlike July's. I hope to have good news to share then also.

Have a great and productive month.
Happy writing :)

Small changes to The Story of Alexis Rose series!!

Small Changes

This change was completely unexpected but it's done and I love these covers again. I've honestly wanted to do this to the covers since I changed them last but nothing I tried ever worked, until now. The changes aren't huge. I used the same images from before, I just zoomed in a bit. The only major change is the switch between book three and the compilation of the three books cover image.

Here are the new covers for each, including the compilation.

Three years ago there was an outbreak.
River has been alone from the beginning, living in an elaborate bunker that her father had built in case of the very emergency that had occurred.
People were infected and most died, but a small few turned into rabid creatures that would kill anything that crossed their paths.
They were the creatures nightmares were made of.
As River survives on her own she ends up forced out of her shelter to find food, but what she ends up finding is trouble, and possible enemies.

Gale just so happened to be running from his own troubles with his brother, Evan, and two sisters that they had found along their travels, when out of the blue a new girl runs into his path.
With a little luck, they help each other out and end up becoming quick allies, but when Gale’s past comes around to bite him, will he throw everything away?
What happens when the trouble he and the others were running from catches up to them? Will River get caught in the crossfire? Of course she will.
Barely escaping the nightmare Gale brings down on her head she’s lucky enough to find the one person she had considered dead, and then she is forced to lose him all over again.
It’s like her life has twisted into one huge roller-coaster ride, one that places her into the arms of an old friend.
But again that relief is short lived when he turns on her. River soon finds herself on the road running alone yet again and far away from the most dangerous man she has ever encountered, Zach.
Zach gains on her quickly, and when he captures her she loses her heart in the process.
Once again her luck is tested when she’s taken right out of Zach’s arms by someone she had once trusted, someone that had betrayed her before.
Thankfully, she is saved from the new horrors he threatens by some new strangers. And with a single shot these new people will change her life forever.
Will she make it back to the bunker, back to where she belongs in her first loves arms? Will Zach be able to track her back down and re-spark the flame between them?

Or will she find safety somewhere new and in someone else’s arms?

Monthly Update - June

Monthly Update

This month didn't go exactly as planned. I've been super busy and I wasn't able to reach many of the goals that I had set out for myself. The good news is that I did get a few goals accomplished and I'm slowly finishing up a few others. They might not get finished by the end of the month but I am making progress.

For the month of July I have lots going on. I will be having a countdown sale for Alone on Amazon, and a Goodreads Giveaway for Hidden.

While those are going on I will be finishing up my current project. Once that project is completed I will be placing my writing aside for a little while. Instead of writing I'll be editing the upcoming stories that I have finished and I'll be working on book covers. I am way behind on doing these two tasks so for the month of July that's what I'll be working on.

After I get all that necessary business out of the way I'm hoping to start on either the last book in the Angels Evermore series or the fourth book in the Onyx Wolves series. I would really love to get both of those books done by the end of this year.

Even though I have a lot on my plate once again I have faith that I'll continue moving forward. Fingers crossed that I get all of my goals completed this month.

Don't forget to keep an eye out for my Countdown on Amazon and my Goodreads Giveaway!! Links for those will be posted soon.

The Chosen is now available!!

Now available for purchase in the kindle store. You can also read this story and many others for free with Kindle Unlimited. Happy Reading!!

Amazon Link: The Chosen (The Chosen Series Book 1)

Nova has a great life. She has friends, a boyfriend, and a supportive family. It all appears perfect from the outside looking in. In truth it’s far from perfect. Her boyfriend, Aden, is a closely guarded secret. Her friends have nearly all left her, and her step-mother is cruel behind closed doors.

Why, well because of the Nokalt.

Ever since they arrived life hasn’t been the same. The Nokalt are free to walk the streets and live side by side with the humans. Of course there’s a catch to it all. Every girl under the age of eighteen can be chosen by one of the Nokalt. Having a relationship with a human male is forbidden.

It was a simple term of agreement for a peaceful coexistence and most people accepted these new rules when the Nokalt came but not Nova. She doesn’t trust them, in fact she hates every last one. Her feelings are shared by her father, brother, and Aden.

Her step-mother and all of her former friends believe the opposite. They believe that it’s an honor to be chosen by one of the Nokalt. Anyone who believes otherwise is a fool, which is why Nova’s step-mother is hell bent on her being chosen.

Against everything that she believes one special Nokalt somehow works his way into Nova’s heart. His name is Edric and he’s the son of a very powerful leader, the ambassador of their region to be precise.

Edric has been sent to infiltrate a rebel group in Nova’s town. That’s always been his job, wash, rinse, and repeat. It’s always been easy for him, until now.

He never expected to meet the one girl that would steal his heart right from under his guard. Of course he never expected that Nova would be mixed up with the rebels that he was sent to take down either. Fortunately she is innocent in all of this but it doesn’t mean that he can save her.

Lies are abundant and truths are uncovered. Some of the people closest to Nova are taken away, and the Nokalt finally show their true colors. They aren’t all that they appeared to be.

Will the connection that Nova and Edric share be strong enough to keep them together or will their love for each other tear them apart? Only they can decide the right paths to take, but will they be the right ones.

Cover Reveal for The Chosen!!

This is the cover for my newest series, the project that I've been keeping secret for the past few months. Here it is in all its glory. Coming soon to a kindle near you :)

Monthly Update - May

Monthly Update

This month has flown by. I have gotten a lot accomplished but at the same time I kind of placed myself into a new hole of things to do. Not that it's a bad thing. Being busy is a very good thing, especially when writing.

With school ending for my girls I'm going to have a little more free time during the night to write so that's a small plus side to this month ending.

So, for May I have gotten a lot done. I released Betrayed. I finished the project that I had been working on in secret. (Details for that will come in June. It's the start of a new series.) I also worked hard on another new story. I'm actually nearly halfway done writing the first draft.

This past week I claimed an author profile over at BookBub. If you'd like to check it out and follow me there just click on the following link. https://www.bookbub.com/authors/raven-k-asher.

The one thing that I set out to do and didn't get done in May is the paperback version of Betrayed. I had all intentions of doing it but never got the motivation. I'm going to set that as a major goal to complete for June.

Another goal will be to do edits for my secret project and to finish the story I'm currently working on right now. I'm really hoping to get them both released this year. My next goal is to start working on the third book for the Angels Evermore series. I've had trouble writing that series so I think it best to wrap it up with one final book.

In June I will also be having another Goodreads Giveaway. This month it will be for When Tomorrow Never Comes. Keep an eye out for links for that giveaway. It will begin on June 10th and will run through until June 17th.

This coming month is going to be a bit busy but I'm hoping to accomplish my goals. I would really love to go above and beyond them if possible.

****

Have a great and productive month.
Happy writing :)

Release Day for Betrayed!!

Release Day for Betrayed!!

The third book in The Onyx Wolves Series has been released today. You can purchase it and the series to read on Amazon, or you can read it for free with Kindle Unlimited. Enjoy!

Taken from her wedding Parker quickly finds herself in a world of trouble once again. She finds herself right back in the one place she had just escaped from, the Island.
Dillon and London are with her this time making matters that much direr. Unlike last time she doesn’t want to risk anyone’s life in order for them to escape. The last thing she wants to do is lose someone else.
She especially doesn’t want to lose Blue, not when she’s so close to happiness.
What she doesn’t know is that someone very close to her isn’t who she’s thinks they are. Every step they take to get away only ends up getting thwarted.
Parker is being betrayed.
When Parker does find out who is against them her heart hardens. There’s no one she seems to be able to trust completely. She surely can’t trust Emmett since he was the one who brought her into this mess again.
There are only a handful of people she can truly trust with her life and most of them are locked in the Island with her.
With a little luck on their side they might escape the Island but that doesn’t mean that they’ll escape the torment that the Hunters have in store for them.
In the midst of everything Blue is taken away from the pack. When Parker finally finds him she discovers that his mind has been twisted and she can’t get through to him. Her heart breaks as she pleads with him to remember her.
She only catches glimpses of the real Blue. He’s nearly too far gone for her to help. Any help she can offer becomes useless because once he realizes how dangerous he is to Parker and the pack he does the only thing he can do to keep her safe, even if it means sacrificing their relationship.
Everything gets flipped upside down and Rowan takes Blue’s place by Parker’s side, but even though the heartbreak leaves she still can’t let go of Blue.
Unable to let him go she takes the only option left to her.
She has to bring him back.
She must save him from his own mind, but first she needs to step up and lead. She has to become the Alpha her father taught her to be.

What do we do when the world as we know it ends? What will we do to survive? Only we can decide the answers to those questions. Now, fast forward 237 years into the future. Earth is no longer livable, and only seven space stations hold the keys to our future. Each station has its own special reasons, and each has a certain group that will be able to travel to any new planets they find and begin life anew. The stations consist of the farmers, the engineers, the scientists, the breeders, the doctors, the military, and the alphas, or also known as the future leaders. Mackenzie was lucky enough to be born on the military station, and is quickly following in her father’s footsteps to becoming a leader of her very own squad, a squad that would someday be sent down to a whole new world. They were the future. As their future soon becomes reality Mackenzie and her team are tested to their limits. She has to fight her emotions and do what's best for everyone, but will it be enough? Will it keep them all alive when they finally reach the ground? And when a red devil threatens what’s between Cash and her, will Kenzie loose him? On this lost planet anything can happen. Things aren't always what they seem. One second Mac finds herself with friends and the next she’s being chased down by enemies. Will she be able to survive, or will she have to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to ensure her team’s future? Fox’s whole life has been turned upside down, and all because of one tiny human girl and her team. He finds himself will to do anything for her, even if it’s the last thing he wants to do. When one of her teammates needs help Fox has no choice but to leave her behind, but saving Grey ends up being more than either Fox or Riker bargained for. Fox quickly finds himself under attack by his own people. It ends up being him and Cash against them all. Barely surviving they somehow manage to escape, but now they have an even bigger issue to deal with. Mackenzie has been taken. But the question is who took her and why. They get their answer when they return to the spot where Fox had left her last. The Gealtach, the most feared beings on the planet, were after her. But she wasn't being chased by just any Gealtach. She was being tracked by hunters. Now, both Cash and Fox have hard decisions to make, but will they make the correct ones? Will they be able to save the girl that they both love? Or will they choose the wrong path and lose her forever.

Release Date for Betrayed!!

I've chosen a release date for Betrayed, Book 3 in The Onyx Wolves series. Betrayed will be released Friday, May 13th, 2016. Mark you calendars and get ready for this book. There will only be two more books after this one in this series.

Pre-ordering is now available. I’ve posted the link at the bottom of this post!

Monthly Update - April

Monthly Update

For starters I have wonderful news. I accomplished my goals for this month. I finished the first draft for Betrayed, the 3rd book in The Onyx Wolves series. I also had another wonderful giveaway over at Goodreads, and I've even had time to spare to work diligently on another little project of mine.

This month has definitely been a great month for me and it has been a relief to see progress done. I love moving forward, don't you?

Anyway, I'll keep this update short and sweet. Next month I'm going to set a few small goals again. I really don't have anything pressing to do but I have a few things that need to be done in order for me to move another step forward.

First, once I'm finished with my newest project, (which shouldn't take too much longer since I nearly had it halfway finished months ago), I will return to the draft of Betrayed to do the much needed edits that need to be done before I decide on a release date.

Once that's done, I will work on getting it ready for paperback and I will be working on editing an older work of mine. It's the only one left that I haven't updated in a while.

Next, I will be having another Goodreads Giveaway. For May it will be Crash and Burn, Book One in the Eden One Series.

With those things on my plate for May I should be kept pretty busy. Of course I'll be working on another project in between these tasks too. I have a lot of great new ideas that I am working on for future series. I can't wait until it's time to share them, but for now they must remain a secret.

As with April I hope May will be filled with lots of success and finished goals.

Have a great and productive month.
Happy writing :)
